Notes for Windows XP

  • Ensure you have the latest Windows and Office service packs installed. Run Windows Update if you are uncertain about the details of your current setup.
  • On Sosius, we automatically create a new file version when a file is replaced. Most 3rd party WebDAV clients (BitKinex excluded) that map a drive upload temporary files when saving Office documents and delete the existing file. This is fine for users that do not require file versions to be automatically created (but also generally works slower). If you require file versioning, we strongly recommend using Bitkinex or the above configuration.
  • You will be prompted to enter your username and password each time you edit an office document using the Windows WebDAV client. Check the save button, so next time you just need to click ok.
  • The shortcut to your Sosius account is located in "My Network Connections".

Important note for Windows XP users

Due to limitations with Microsoft's implementations of WebDAV in their older software, you may experience problems creating/editing or opening files directly from within your Windows Web Folder.

We recommend using BitKinex which is a small 3rd party WebDAV client to edit and open non-office documents (you can also edit Office 2003 and Office 2007 documents using BitKinex).

Please see our "BitKinex guide" in the Recommended Software section.
