how to create a Project within a Project?

Hi folks - I am a newbie, so let me apologize upfront if this question is repetitive!  If it is, please feel free to refer to an existing thread about it?!

Isn't there some way to create a 'project within a project'??  I realize I can create a folder to group multiple projects but then I lose the gantt capabilities (folders won't do that function).  So what I really need is a way to group tasks into a "sub-project".

Any and all help is much appreciated!

-newly yours,

Julie

Hi Julie,

You can use the summarize feature to include multiple projects within a project.

Create a Folder to contain the workspace, within that folder create a master Project.

e.g.
/username/folder
/username/folder/mainproject

Create a Sub-Folder that will contain the sub-projects.

e.g.
/username/folder/subprojectfolder

Create your sub-projects in this folder.

e.g.
/username/folder/subprojectfolder/subproject1
/username/folder/subprojectfolder/subproject2

Edit mainproject, check the "Include Descendants" checkbox, next to "Base Item", click Select. Choose the subprojectfolder: /username/folder/subprojectfolder, click OK.

All of the tasks that appear beneath the subprojectfolder will now display in the mainproject.

Kind regards,
Michael
