Portlets are compact objects used to display a wide range of commonly accessed information on a single screen. They are normally configured at the top level of the application or the top level of a space and form the basis of a work area which highlights key information, they can however be added to any Item in the application.
Portlet objects intelligently position themselves on the screen. A Member can either use the drag and drop feature to rearrange the layout of the portlets or specify the column and row order under the Portlet manage page.
From your Dashboard click on the Manage Portlets button. From here you are able to view what portlets are defined on your dashboard, add additional portlets, edit the properties of a particular portlet, delete portlets and change the ordering of the portlets.
If you wish to add Portlets to other items other than your Dashboard, click on the "Add further portlets" button under the Item Actions menu.
Each Portlet has a set of properties which define what the Portlet displays. You can edit these properties by clicking on the pencil icon in the portlet title window or by clicking on the Edit button under the manage portlet page.
The portlet title window also includes a delete button which will remove the portlet from your page and an show/hide button.
